Algaze, Kenneth Barton, 61, of Newport Beach, Calif., died September 1, 2010. Born to the late Reuben “Rudy” Algaze and Elizabeth Cilento Algaze, on November 20, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York. Ken is survived by his tight-knit, loving family including stepmother, Sally Algaze, sisters Eileen Algaze and Lori Collins, nieces Anastacia Armstrong, Jennifer Bishop and Caitlin Collins, nephew Dean Leonardi and great-nephews Jake Scott and Noah Bishop.
As a teenager, Ken made the bold move west from New York to Orange County in 1967 via family caravan dubbed the “Brooklyn Hillbillies.” He attended the Riverside School for the Deaf and Goldenwest College to study printing and graphic design. His career in printing spanned more than 30 years for prominent Orange County title insurance companies.
Ken had few but strong passions which included football, the stock market, steamer clams and Balboa Island. Ken’s fantasy was to retire on the beach in the Hamptons, on Long Island, New York, where he spent his childhood.
Ken was kind-hearted and always made people laugh with his unique jokes. His sense of humor and winning smile is what everyone will remember. Ken’s loyalty to friends and love of family were strong attributes that will be honored at a memorial service on Friday, September 10 at 2 p.m. at Pacific View Mortuary, Corona Del Mar, Calif.
